Celebrating Catholic Schools Week at Churchtown

Catholic Schools Week 2026, in De La Salle College Churchtown, was a joyful and meaningful celebration of faith, community, and the everyday call to holiness. This year’s theme, “Normal People, Called to Holiness,” reminded us that sainthood is not just for extraordinary people, but for each one of us in our daily lives — in our classrooms, homes, and friendships.

Throughout the week, students across all classes took part in a variety of creative and reflective activities to explore what this theme means in practice.

Connected in Faith

One of our whole-school projects involved creating individual puzzle pieces. Each student designed their own piece with a religious message, prayer, or symbol that reflected how they can live out holiness in everyday life. When assembled together, the puzzle beautifully symbolised how we are all unique, yet united in faith. Just as puzzle pieces connect to form one complete picture, we are all connected as one school family in Christ.

Celebrating Family Love

Students also created love hearts with special messages about their families. These heartfelt reflections highlighted the importance of love, kindness, forgiveness, and support within the home. The activity reminded us that holiness often begins in the simple acts of care and compassion we show to those closest to us.

Our Tree of Love and Hope

Another highlight of the week was the creation of our “Tree of Love and Hope.” Each student wrote a message on a leaf describing how they can spread love and hope in their school and community. The leaves were added to a large display tree, which now stands as a powerful reminder that small acts of goodness help our community to grow and flourish.

Catholic Schools Week 2026 was a wonderful opportunity for reflection, creativity, and celebration. Through prayer, art, and shared experiences, our students came to understand that holiness is not about being perfect — it is about choosing love, kindness, and faith in the ordinary moments of life.

We are very proud of the thoughtfulness and enthusiasm shown by all our students throughout the week. May we continue to live out the message that we are all normal people, called to holiness.
