District joins ILDP celebrations

The District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta will join in the celebrations for this year’s International Lasallian Days for Peace (ILDP): “We Are Bridges for Peace: From Conflict to Connection.”

The ILDP season, which runs from September 21st to October 21st, invites us to reflect on our role as peacemakers in a world that longs for healing and reconciliation. Inspired by this year’s Lasallian Reflection, “All is Connected,” we are called to recognise the deep ties that unite us as one Lasallian family and to respond with compassion, presence, and action.

To assist schools and centres during the International Lasallian Days of Peace, the District Mission Team, with support from the District Young Lasallian Council, have created a bank of resources, inclusive of songs, stories, prayers, activities, and a calendar offering a daily action or intention.

In addition, the Institute’s Commission on Youth will share a series of weekly activities designed to foster dialogue, empathy, and engagement with the realities of conflict and peace-building in our communities. One of the early highlights was the hosting of “Let’s Talk…Lasallian”—a virtual conversation on peace and connection on September 22nd.

Following the example of Jesus and St. John Baptist de La Salle, we are invited to become bridges—connecting lives, mending divisions, and walking with others toward hope. Being a bridge for peace means listening deeply, responding to injustice, and nurturing a spirit of fraternity and service.

In a world that too often divides, may we be dreamers and doers, building a culture of peace with courage and conviction. As Br. Armin reminds us: “The world has always been shaped by dreamers.”
