New teachers bring great energy to induction programme

The Lasallian Induction Programme for New Staff took place on Thursday October 2nd and Friday 3rd in Castletown.

It was encouraging to see so many enthusiastic new teachers participate in the programme and after two very productive days they returned to their schools inspired to share our mission.

Organised by MEL Committee Ireland, and led by Mary McDonagh and Sinéad Lavelle, the programme began with Mary McDonagh outlining valuable Safeguarding information while Jo Millea led a reflective art workshop.

As always, the social time on Thursday evening proved to be a great way for teachers to connect and share ideas and information.

Friday morning began with Morning Prayer and presentation on the work of Castletown Retreat Centre by Derek Doherty, before Jo Millea introduce the Founder’s story.

Participants then heard about the many District initiatives they can get involved in, including The Lasallian Awards, The Lasallian Competition, social gatherings, The Lasallian Leavening Fund and The Lasallian Projects.

They were also presented with a copy of the District’s new publication, ‘Reflections on a Lasallian Journey’, to celebrate the Year of Lasallian Spirituality. Eunan Whyte provided an outline how the book came about and how the collection illustrates how the Lasallian values are lived out in everyday life.

The programme concluded with a talk on classroom management by Joe Twomey.
