Peace by Piece: International Lasallian Days for Peace 2026 Begin
The International Lasallian Days for Peace (ILDP) begin today, 21 September, and run until 21 October 2026. The month opens on the United Nations International Day of Peace and invites Lasallians around the world to reflect on their role as peacemakers through prayer, service and fraternity.
This year's theme is "Peace by Piece: Building a Fraternal World." It draws on Lasallian Reflection 12, which centres on the Pedagogy of Fraternity and the Pedagogy of Encounter. The theme is a reminder that everyone has a part to play, that peace cannot be achieved alone, and that a more fraternal world is built when people recognise each other's strengths and unique contributions.
Lasallian Reflection 12 states: "Lasallian education today is called to form students in the meaning of life, and this is achieved through the experience of fraternity; when a person feels a part of a community, recognised, welcomed and loved for who they are."
Across Ireland, Great Britain and Malta, ILDP is an intentional month for schools and communities to focus their prayers, creativity, time and energy on striving for a more peaceful and humane world, and an opportunity for young people to know that they are seen, heard and loved.
A prayer each week
A prayer for peace will be shared on the La Salle IGBM Facebook and Instagram pages each week of ILDP, beginning on Tuesday 22 September and continuing every Monday until the close of the month. Schools and communities are welcome to use the prayers in assemblies, form time, staff briefings and meetings.
Connecting with RELAN
On Wednesday 30 September, La Salle IGBM and the Lasallian Region of North America (RELAN) will host a Zoom call for small groups of young people aged 11 to 18, joined by their Animators. The call is a moment to pray in solidarity with brothers and sisters around the world, to connect with young people and colleagues from across the global Lasallian Family, and to hear from Br. Chris Patiño, FSC, General Councillor; Joseph Gilson, Director of Mission for La Salle IGBM; and Br. Mark McKeon, FSC, of Bethlehem University.
