Preparing for Advent at Stella Maris Junior School

As the season of Advent unfolds, students at Stella Maris Junior School take care to prepare their hearts and minds for the coming of Jesus. Grade 6 Benjamin prepared an assembly about preparing ourselves during Advent to be ready to welcome baby Jesus. Through simple daily practices, such offering small acts of kindness, praying together, or reflecting on hope, peace, joy, and love, students learn to slow down and notice God’s presence in everyday life. At the end of the assembly, we lit the first candle of the Advent Wreath.

Grade 6 Arnold Assembly – Power of Good

Grade 6 Arnold students came together for a meaningful and inspiring assembly titled “Power of Good”, reminding us that even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference.

They explored how choosing goodness over negativity helps create a school environment where everyone feels safe, respected and valued.  An original song was written for the Grade 6 Arnold assembly, words by Ms Elizabeth Scicluna and arrangement by Ms Louise Tabone. I Have Friends Around Me.

Let’s continue spreading kindness. Let’s choose the Power of Good, every single day

World Children’s Day

On November 20th we celebrated World Children’s Day.  Every child deserves a chance to dream big, learn freely, and grow up in a safe, nurturing world. The day started with a school assembly animated by the lay chaplain, Mr David Portelli. Educators prepared interesting activities for the students to enjoy.  Students came to school in casual clothes and gave a donation towards Dar il-Providenza.

Zack and Liam Portelli, Grade 6 Miguel students, on their own initiative, collected €200 for Dar tal-Providenza during their free time.

On Sunday 30 November, they visited the 60 hr Marathon at RTK radio station and presented the donation of 1026 collected by the Junior and Senior School. Thanks to all the families who supported the Dress Down Day, Cake Sale and the collection done during Christmas Market Mass on Saturday.

Maypole Factory Visit

The Grade 5 students visited the Maypole Factory and watched how bread, pastries, and desserts are prepared. They saw dough being mixed, shaped, and baked, and learned how sweet treats are decorated with care. It was exciting to see professional bakers at work and understand how our favourite foods are made.

MMSA Talks

A number of medical students visited our college and with great enthusiasm, they shared their knowledge on various topics with our students. Topics varied from choosing the right foods to leave a positive impact on our emotions and performance, nutrition to remain strong and healthy, following a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle and the immune system. To connect with all this, the medical students carried out several physical exercises with the students in order to promote a healthy body and a healthy mind.
