St Augustine’s cherish principle of inclusive community
Inclusive community is where St Augustine’s Catholic College, as a community, foster a sense of unity and belonging where diversity is respected and no one is excluded.
Respect for all persons is a value where it aims to create a school culture where every individual is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their background. As a school, we speak many different languages and come from different backgrounds so it’s important to celebrate this diversity that we have and cherish. It’s a constant reminder that as well as being equals to each other in our school community, we should celebrate our individuality and how that brings us together.
To reflect on the values of inclusivity and respect, we invited students to mark where they came from on our school world map. This activity helped us learn more about each other’s backgrounds, the languages we speak, and the unique cultures that make our community special.
This activity reflects the teachings of St. John Baptist de La Salle, who believed in providing an education that is both holistic and rooted in faith, ensuring that every person feels valued and included. By celebrating our individuality, we are reminded that our diversity is what unites us and strengthens our community.
