St Gerald’s students dedicated to serving community

Transition Year students at St Gerald’s De La Salle College Castlebar continued to showcase their dedication to community involvement and service.

A group of TYs had the privilege of working alongside David Gillick, the brand ambassador for Marathon Kids, as stewards for his run around Lough Lannagh. Their commitment to supporting this event demonstrated their enthusiasm for fitness and health and their willingness to contribute to meaningful causes.

In another admirable effort, TY students joined forces for a collection benefiting Special Olympics Ireland, raising an impressive €4,800. This generous contribution directly supports local Special Olympic athletes, highlighting the impact of their fundraising efforts on our community.

Meanwhile, another group of TYs demonstrated their environmental stewardship by assisting with the setup for the Pink Ribbon walk and participating in a clean-up initiative at the Lough Lannagh car park. Their proactive approach to community service reflects the true spirit of TY, emphasising the values of compassion, teamwork, and making a positive difference.

We commend all our TY students for their outstanding efforts and commitment to serving others, embodying the essence of compassion and community engagement.
