Warm welcome at Stella Maris for Br Armin
Brother Armin, Superior General of the Institute of the De La Salle Brothers worldwide, visited St. Stella Maris College Junior School in April. He was accompanied by Brother Joel Palud, General Councillor, Brother Ben Hanlon, Visitor of the Lasallian District of Ireland, Great Britain, and Malta, along with other Brothers and Mr Joseph Gilson.
During their visit, they first met the educators during morning prayers, then welcomed by students with a speech, 4 Miguel sang the school song, a group of students asked Bro Armin a number of questions and Beat Boys Group presented a dance. Bro Armin spoke to all students and educators.
Lasallian Mural
A huge mural covers the walls of the Junior School Ground to be seen and enjoyed by everyone. During the second break, Mr Samuel Casha, Art Teacher, organised a Mural Club in which a number of students from Grade 3 to Grade 6 participated. Ms Louise Tabone gave a helping hand to finalise the project.
Athletics Competition
During the past two days, three students from Grade 4 and one from Grade 6 represented our Junior School at the Malta School Games 2025 finals. Under the supervision of our PE teacher Mr. Ramon, Tim Bonnici, Andrea Gerada and Ben Pace participated in Primary Future Stars Athletic Challenge held at the Marsa Athletics Track.
Tim and Andrea placed in the top five in the events they participated in. Ben Pace won Gold in the 300m run, Silver in the skipping rope challenge and in the 60m dash, and Bronze in the 60m hurdles. Kane Gouder participated in the Cross-Country finals placing among the top four. Well done to our students for their efforts.
Lasallian Awards Certificates
On Friday morning, certificates and medals were distributed to the students who participated in the Lasallian Awards and the Youngest Lasallian Awards. The students were happy to receive the certificates and felt proud of all the work they did in the previous months.
COPE Day
COPE Day for Educators was held on May 14th and started with a session with Dr Carlos Grima (Education Officer for Quality Assurance) about the New Quality Standards for Compulsory Education. Ms Golda and Ms Veronique then briefed the educators about the work done on the application of being a Dyslexia Friendly School. This was followed by breaktime and a meeting with Bro Enrico on the vocation of an educator.
Football tournament
Stella Maris Junior School Football Team consisting of Grade 5 & 6 students participated in the first edition of Br Edward’s Sport Meet 2025 football tournament organised by Ms. Henriette (De La Salle). They played against De La Salle College, SPMC and St. Edward’s College. All displayed great teamwork and sportsmanship. Winners (SPMC), Runner up (DLS), 3rd (Stella Maris), 4th (St. Edward’s)
Crowning of Our Lady, Mary
Students and staff celebrated the crowning of Our Lady, Mary, the mother of Jesus. We placed a crown of flowers on her statue to show our love and to thank her for always caring for us. It was a special moment where we prayed, sang songs, and asked Mary to keep us safe and close to Jesus every day.
Sports Day
Sports Day 2025 proved to be a full day packed with joy and fun. Special thanks to Mr Jeremy, Ms Maria and Mr Cilia from Senior School for making this event possible.
