As always, the students at St Gerald’s College, Castlebar, were very busy over the past few weeks with activities involving innovation, charity work and a bit of festive cheer.

The 1719 Society at St De La Salle School, St Helens, has been very busy this term. Each of our strands have led a series of activities and the focus for us this term has been has been on community and Hope.

The support and guidance of De La Salle College, Jersey, has been credited with one former student landing his dream job with the Mercedes Formula One racing team.

De La Salle High School, Downptrick, pupils and teachers have been busy collecting Christmas goodies for Downpatrick’s local Fountain Foodbank.

De La Salle College, Churchtown, celebrated their first ‘Stand Up Awareness Week’ in Association with BeLonG To, whose mission is to support LGBTI+ young people as equals to achieve our vision through youth work, changing attitudes, and research.

Representatives from De La Salle College, Waterford, took part in a special commemoration of Waterford’s first X-Ray which was held by University Hospital Waterford and the science department of De La Salle College.

As a very large school in an urban area we have a very diverse student group, De La Salle College, Waterford, recently started on a journey to recognise this diversity.

Students at St Benild School in Malta celebrated Advent with a number of activities including initiatives to help those in need at this time.

Students at Stella Maris Junior School showed their caring side as they celebrated the festive season by helping others.

In May of 2021 building work began on our school extension, here in St. Stephen’s De La Salle, Waterford. This project will provide four new classrooms for our school.

At the end of September, St Benildus College celebrated ‘International Week of Deaf People’.

December has been a busy month at La Salle Retreat Centre, Mellieha, with many events taking place and more planned over the coming days.

The Lasallian Ministry Leaders Conference for Ireland saw Principals and Pastoral Centre Directors gather to take part in what proved to be a very uplifting and enlightening meeting.

We are now into our final two weeks of retreats for 2021 at Benildus Pastoral Centre. The two halves of the Autumn term saw us host on average four retreats per week.

This year St. Benildus College was once again proud to help the wonderful Christmas Shoebox Appeal campaign ran by Team Hope.

Br. John Deeney of the Oxford Community has shared his ‘Seventeenth Century Snippets’ that provide a reminder of the conditions that inspired St John Baptist de La Salle to provide education for the poor and vulnerable.

December at Stella Maris College is a month which we all hold dearly to our hearts. Apart from it being the month where we celebrate Christmas, it is also a time where we are share, care and look out for each other a little bit more than we do any other ordinary day.

St John’s College, Ballyfermot, held a 6th Year Prayer Service on Monday December 6th, with the theme of ‘waiting’ being chosen as the title of the service.

The experiences, reflections and wisdom in a recently launched book by an American Brother are certain to be of interest to many Lasallians in the District.

Students at St Peter’s Bournemouth are continuing to provide great support for the Reaching the Unreached charity which is very close to their hearts.
