A truly memorable District Lasallian Induction CPD came to a conclusion on Wednesday August 24th at the La Salle Retreat Centre, Mellieha, where a combination of wonderful and enthusiastic participants, perfect hosts and brilliant presenters made this a magnificent experience for all.

Former Lasallian student, Alessia Russon, is currently hitting the international headlines after helping England to qualify for the Women’s Euro 2022 semi-final.

The inaugural global celebration of Lasallian Women of Hope will take place on October 1 this year. The virtual celebration hosted at various locations throughout the world, including Oxford.

Castletown was the location for a three-day retreat in July which proved to be a very uplifting experience, and was followed by Cemetery Day on July 9th, with Br. Kevin McEvoy reflecting on the success of both events. 

Students from St Peter’s School, Bournemouth, recently travelled to St Cassian’s for Lasallian Camp 2022, with Luke Herford, Subject Leader RE, who reflected on a very enjoyable weekend.

The contribution of Coláiste Íosagáin to the Irish education system was celebrated on RTE with the airing of a special ‘Nationwide’ programme on Friday July 15th.

Students and staff at St Illtyd's Catholic High School in Carding have been very busy over recent months with a wide range of activities.

Br. John Deeney, from the Oxford Community, has shared a poem that was written by a well-known Brother in England, Br. Dennis Robert. John estimates that the poem ‘Vocation’ was written in the 1950s or 1960s, but the sentiment is very much alive today.

On Friday July, 1st, De La Salle School St Helens, dedicated a day to celebrate our Founder, St John Baptist De la Salle, and the work he has done.

On Monday July 4th, 2022 the Senior Leadership Teams  of all six Lasallian schools in Malta within De La Salle College and Stella Maris College met for an end of scholastic year leadership seminar at the Mellieha Pastoral Centre.

RELEM (Lasallian Region of Europe and the Mediterranean) has launched a 12-month pilot Formation of Formators programme. The first in-person phase was hosted by the District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta and ran from Monday 27th June to Friday 1st July at the Lasallian Pastoral Centre in Mellieha.

Students from De La Salle School, Basildon, took part in the Lasallian camp at St. Cassian’s retreat centre in the Berkshire countryside from July 8th to 10th

On Saturday July 9th former students of De La Salle College met up for a reunion barbecue in the college grounds.

An inspirational story of one Lasallian’s journey against the odds to qualify as a teacher has highlighted that the spirit of our Founder is very much alive. The remarkable journey of Kuay Gattot Jany, has been shared by Br. Dennis Lee.

A special presentation was made to Cheryl Ward in recognition of her wonderful contribution to the De La Salle Brothers as manager of the Clayton Court Community for 25 years.

Br. Tommy Walsh has revealed that he is humbled and honoured to accept the position of Auxiliary Visitor of the District of Ireland, Great Britain & Malta.

Brother Visitor, Ben Hanlon, has written to the Lasallian Family to convene the Second District Lasallian Educational Mission (MEL) Assembly for Ireland, Great Britain and Malta.

It has been a very busy end to the year at De La Salle College Beneavin, with students and staff undertaking many activities that reflect their strong Lasallian values.

De La Salle High School Downpatrick enjoyed success on the sporting front when they competed in the Br Sharkey Cup recently.
