It has been a very busy start to the year for students and staff at St Gerald’s De La Salle College Castlebar, with with a variety of events that once again reflect the strong Lasallian ethos in the school.

Two recent events at De La Salle College Junior School Malta highlighted the wonderful sense of community that exists in the school, as students and teachers celebrated Ash Wednesday, while also undertaking an initiative to reduce paper waste.

St. Benild School celebrated the feast of its school patron saint: St. Benild Romançon on Friday January 27th with a series of special and traditional events.

Transition Year students at Ard Scoil La Salle Raheny participated in an amazing experience with RNLI Howth Yacht Club Lifesaving work placement before mid-term.

Students from Stella Maris College received a special treat recently when they got the opportunity to speak to an astronaut as the International Space Station passed Malta.

Following the disruptions caused by the Covid pandemic, Br. John Deeney is pleased to reveal that the Lasallian Projects will be travelling to Africa this summer and he is inviting anyone interested to get in touch.

De La Salle College 6th Form Malta hosted their Careers Day recently and the event proved to be very beneficial for all.

The students had a number of sessions by different professionals according to their study subjects about the different career choice possibilities. 

The International Symposium of Young Lasallians took place at the Generalate in Rome between November 13th and 20th, with the District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta represented by Joseph Degabriele.

Students at De La Salle College Dundalk displayed their talents on the sporting front when the U-17 team captured the North East Championship recently.

Students at De La Salle College Senior School have been busy displaying their talents in the kitchen by with an enthusiastic effort in their Home Economics practicals.

The busy schedule of District progammes and events continues on Thursday March 2 and Friday March 10 when Chaplains, Heads of RE and Animators from GB will gather at St Cassian’s, Kintbury, for the annual CHoRE gathering.

St. Brigid’s Primary School, Kildare Town continues to be a hive of activity as we enter into the season of spring including celebrating their Patron Saint. 

De La Salle Sixth Formers visited the European Parliament in Strasbourg and it proved to be a wonderful experience for all involved.

The Animators’ Gathering held in Castletown on January 26th and 27th provided another reminder of the wonderful work being done to look after the young people in our schools and to strengthen the Lasallian Mission.

The enthusiasm, energy and sense of community that fuels that passion for the Lasallian Mission in the District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta was evident in abundance at the second District Mission Assembly in Malta.

The second District Mission Assembly came to a memorable conclusion on Wednesday February 6th when delegates paved the way forward for the District over the next four years by completing and overwhelming endorsing the Direction Statements.
