Basildon student shares remembrance poem

A Year 8 student at De La Salle School Basildon, Lilly-Rae Parkin, has shared a poem she has written to celebrate Remembrance Day.

Remembrance

Let’s give thanks to those who fought

For peace that can’t be bought.

They stood so we can stand free,

Their bravery in you and me.

The crimson poppies that grow,

The respect that we will show,

Just two minutes of our time,

To remember every precious chime.

Leaping forward, hand in hand,

Hope spreading across the land

To reflect on what we solemnly say,

That they helped us guide the way.

In quiet peace we stand as one,

United we remember, the journey is done.

Together we honour, side by side,

Their legacy with us forever tied.
