Cardinal Langley students reflect on Inclusive Community
On Thursday 13th November, a group of talented year 9 students participated in an art workshop reflecting on the theme of Inclusive Community, one of the core Lasallian principles, linking in with the CST principle of Call to family, community and participation.
After beginning with a time of prayer and reflection, the students took inspiration from various pieces of artwork on display, noting key themes they wanted to express in their own design. After sketching out their idea they began to bring it to life with a variety of materials, some using watercolours, fine line pens, acrylic, and pencils.
The commitment and intentionality of the students can be seen in the profound and meaningful artwork they have produced.
The day concluded with an opportunity for words of affirmation to be written about each piece, and for the students to reflect on their own work and write a brief statement of what it represents to them.
We concluded with a time of prayer in thanksgiving for our time together, remembering God’s presence to us.
We plan to transfer these designs onto vinyl window stickers to display around school for others to enjoy and reflect upon the theme.
We are very grateful to The Lasallian Leavening Fund for supporting this project and for Jo Millea for facilitating this great opportunity.
