Christmas spirit alive in Monastery NS
The Christmas spirit is alive and shining in Monastery N.S. where our beautifully erected Christmas crib has once again become a cherished symbol of the season in our community. Each year, hundreds of commuters pause to admire its warmth and meaning, bringing a sense of peace to their daily journeys. For our school community, the crib represents not only the joy of Christmas but also the values of kindness, togetherness and hope that we strive to share with others.
We have had a vibrant and engaging start to term one in Monastery N.S. in Ardee, one of learning and teamwork. We were delighted to welcome Brother Tommy Walsh, along with Eunan Whyte to our school in October where they met with pupils and members of our Board of Management.
Pupils in Monastery N.S. are actively involved in supporting local initiatives, including the Tidy Towns efforts in Ardee and the new and vibrant Ferdia Festival. Through litter-picking and helping to maintain community spaces, pupils contribute to keeping Ardee clean, welcoming and environmentally friendly. Their participation in the Ferdia Festival also brings creativity and energy to local celebrations. The pupils’ magnificent and spooky pumpkin carvings lit up a Halloween trail in the town. These experiences not only strengthen community spirit but also help pupils develop teamwork, responsibility and pride in their hometown.
Jim McGee, former principal of Monastery N.S., was recently acknowledged for his extraordinary contribution to the school over 16 years at the Lasallian Conference in The Clayton Hotel, Dublin. We wish Jim good health and happiness as he embarks on new adventures in retirement.
Monastery N.S. continues to provide a warm and supportive environment for children to thrive and we look forward to a continued positive and productive year of learning.
