District honoured with Br Armin’s visit to Malta
The District of Ireland, Great Britain, and Malta enjoyed another memorable event as we were honoured with a second visit from Brother Superior General Armin Luistro.
Following his visit to Ireland and Great Britain in October 2024, Br Armin spent four days in Malta from Saturday April 26th to Tuesday 29th, taking the opportunity to engage with Brothers, students, staff, and the Board of the De La Salle Brothers Malta Sector.
His schedule included school visits and listening sessions with various groups within the Lasallian Family, including local Brothers, student groups, alumni, staff, and members of Signum Fidei.
Br Armin’s first official duty was to address attendees at the 26th Annual Congress of ASSEDIL which was hosted at Stella Maris College, Gżira, from Wednesday, 23rd April to Saturday, 26th April and brought together over 120 educational leaders from Lasallian universities, schools, and institutions across Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East.
The pastoral visit of the Superior General commenced on Saturday evening and the following morning he shared Eucharistic celebrations with Brothers from Malta and our District, members of the La Salle Malta board, other advisors, members of the senior leadership teams in our schools, animators and Signum Fidei members.
On Monday, Br Armin visited Stella Maris College Junior School, accompanied by Brother Joel Palud, General Councillor, Brother Ben Hanlon, Visitor of the Lasallian District of Ireland, Great Britain, and Malta, Brother Austin Gili, Brother in Charge in Malta along with other Brothers and Mr Joseph Gilson, Chair of the La Salle Malta Trust.
During their visit, they first met the educators during morning prayers, then were welcomed by students with a speech, 4 Miguel sang the school song, a group of students asked Bro Armin a number of questions and Beat Boys Group presented a dance. Br Armin spoke to all students and educators.
The Superior General visited St Benild School which hosts the Grade 1 and 2 students of Stella Maris College. Young students also took the occasion to wish a happy birthday to Brother Ben Hanlon, Visitor of our Lasallian District of Ireland, Great Britain and Malta as well as three fellow students who all celebrated their birthday.
On Tuesday morning the visit to De La Salle College began with Brother a moment of prayer with staff. Br Armin then proceeded to tour the three schools within the college, visiting classrooms, workshops and labs while meeting students and staff. Br Armin also participated in three separate sessions where he answered some really interesting questions from students from the three schools. He also met student groups, including the the Sixth Form Student Council and a group of Senior School student officials.
