District volunteers celebrate opening of St Patrick’s Hall in India
Suranam in India was a hive of activity on Saturday October 18th for the official opening of the multi-purpose hall now locally christened “St Patrick’s Hall.”
Lasallian Projects Ireland is so happy to have been involved in its construction and this educational facility will be of enormous benefit to the two local schools and the surrounding region. Close on one thousand people attended the grand opening. Rev. Br Christy Croos, the Visitor of the Lasallian South Asis District, assisted by Br Victor, the Auxiliary Visitor, facilitated the grand opening, accompanied by local religious, many dignitaries, teachers, parents, students and numerous well-wishers. Rev. Fr. Soosai Michael, the chief celebrant and after an uplifting eucharistic celebration, blessed the entire project construction.
A colourful cultural programme followed, entertaining all in attendance and everyone involved in the project was mentioned, thanked and honoured. Special mention was reserved for the Irish Volunteers, Mr Tom O’Neill and his group, that made this dream a reality. Their work on the site, their personal sacrifices, the funds they raised, the Lasallian bonds formed, the awareness of the “One Lasalle”, and that all Lasallians are connected. Above all, they have given many future students in Suranam a wonderful educational opportunity to reach their true potential in life.
It certainly was a day of celebration and a wonderful day to remember. May “St Patrick’s Hall” bring abundant blessings on everyone who enters under its roof. May the sky be the limit for future educational success.
