DLS Belfast honoured with Catholic Education Award
Pupils and staff from De La Salle College, Belfast were honoured to attend the Spirit of Catholic Education Awards on January 21st in St. Mary’s University College, Belfast during Catholic School's Week.
This uplifting event celebrated the many ways schools across the diocese foster faith, spirituality and moments of prayer within their communities.
It was a proud moment for us as the award acknowledged our ongoing commitment to nurturing the spiritual growth of our pupils, helping them to develop a lived faith rooted in reflection, compassion and a deep sense of belonging.
We were delighted that Bishop Alan was in attendance, offering encouragement and a warm pastoral presence throughout the celebration.
Our team also took the opportunity to share with him 'Reflections on a Lasallian Journey', a recently published book gathering reflections from Lasallian schools across Ireland, Great Britain, and Malta. A testament to the shared heritage and mission that unites our community.
Today was truly a meaningful celebration of Catholic education and the values that continue to shape our school family.
Grandparent's Day
As part of our Catholic Schools Week celebrations, De La Salle College, Belfast celebrated Grandparents’ Day.
The boys worked side‑by‑side with their grandparents to bake fresh scones, sharing stories and plenty of flour along the way!
Afterwards, everyone gathered to enjoy tea, coffee and their homemade treats. The afternoon concluded with a special blessing from Father McCullagh, who spoke beautifully about the irreplaceable role grandparents play in our families, our faith and our school community.
Year 11 Hurling Corn Dé Danann Final
Our Hurlers reached the Year 11 Hurling Corn Dé Danann Final where they just came up short despite a battling display.
The lads went in at half time trailing 0–9 to 0–4. They showed tremendous character after the break, battling back and never letting the game drift. Despite a stronger second half performance, the clock beat them, with the final score finishing 1–11 to 1–7.
We are incredibly proud of the effort, resilience and heart shown on the pitch today. You represented the school with great pride throughout the campaign.
