DLS Waterford students enjoy trip to Rome

Students from De La Salle College Waterford have just come back from a truly amazing trip to Rome. A total of 26 second year students took part in what was the first school trip to Rome, and our itinerary was packed solid for the three days. Here are the highlights:

The Colosseum

The boys enjoyed a guided tour where they learned of the vast history of the Colosseum.

The Vatican Museum and Basilica

We spent a number of hours in the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel where we located a beautiful piece of art of our very own Founder. We visited the Basilica and lit candles under a statue of our Founder. We climbed the steps to the top of the dome in the Basilica which afforded us beautiful views of St Peter’s Square and the Vatican City.

A tour of the Motherhouse

We stayed in Casa La Salle, which is attached to the Motherhouse. We got a guided tour of the museum and got to view and pray in front of the relics of our Founder.

Walking tour of Rome

We walked tirelessly through the city visiting many attractions, including the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps.

Visit to another Lasallian School

We had the opportunity to visit another Lasallian school and listen to some history about the school, and also to visit their school chapel which is at the heart of their school, just like our own!

It really was an amazing experience, and a pleasure to be involved with. These boys did the school, their parents and themselves proud at all times throughout the trip.
