Jubilee Year celebrations in St Peter’s
To mark the beginning of our celebrations for The Jubilee Year St Peter’s Catholic School Bournemouth travelled to Portsmouth Cathedral with several of our Lasallian Leaders from both Primary and Secondary phases.
Staff and students spent the day at the Cathedral where we learnt more about what it is to be ‘pilgrims of hope’ and spent time with Deacon Ryan Browne and ex-student of St Peter’s School who will be ordained into the priesthood later this year. Several students were able to serve at Mass and to finish our day Fr Thomas showed us relics of Therese of Lisieux and we all received a special blessing.
Meeting Deacon Ryan and hearing his stories was exciting. I like that he used to serve at Mass in the Chapel at school and that he was sometimes a little bit naughty when he was at St Peter’s. (Herbie Y4)
I got to altar serve. We learnt about St Therese of Lisieux and the relic was cool, a bit of her bone in a silver locket, the Priest blessed us with it. (Anny Y7)
Going to Mass in the big Cathedral was my favourite part of the day. (Madi Y4)
We had fun being together and sharing. (Isabella Y8)
Students lead this year’s Stations of The Cross
Students from Y7 to Y11 led us in a beautiful and thoughtful Stations of the Cross, with prayers, reflections and re-enactment. The school community gathered at the end of term to spend time reflecting on the Lord’s passion in the last few days of the term.
