Macroom students have positive impact on local community

All at De La Salle College Macroom are incredibly proud of Riordan O’Driscoll and Jack O’Donoghue, who were recently featured in The Farmers Journal for their innovative farm safety project. Given the serious number of accidents that occur on Irish farms every year, it was no surprise to see farm safety highlighted at the Young Scientist exhibition.

After one of their own cattle was injured in an incident involving a slurry tank, the lads decided to take action. Riordan and Jack designed and created an aluminium manhole cover for slurry tanks, complete with added safety features such as a protective cage. They tested their design with local farmers, receiving hugely positive feedback. Outstanding work lads, well done.

Nutrition Module

4B got stuck in during their Nutrition Module recently. The lads whipped up some protein balls and did a great job learning about healthy ingredients and simple food prep.
The finished product passed the all important taste test.

Senior Cycle History Cinema Trip

Our Senior Cycle History students were at The Briery Gap recently for a powerful screening of Nuremberg.

A thought-provoking film that brought their history curriculum to life beyond the classroom.

Many thanks to the Briery Gap for hosting us once more.

Model UN Conference

Our 4th Year students have arrived at City Hall for today’s Model United Nations Conference — suited and booted and ready to go

Wishing Michael, Liam, Peter, Cian, Daniel, Oliver, Cathal, Ryan and David the very best as the opening ceremony gets underway.

Irish language

R44 have been on an Irish language initiative this year!  We are learning new words and phrases and trying to use them in our every day life. We are also starting our days off with Duolingo. The boys are loving it!
