Raising hope and funds at St Helens
The focus on Lenten almsgiving was truly inspiring here at De La Salle, St Helens as our students have demonstrated incredible compassion and a real desire to make a positive impact, both locally and beyond. From raising awareness to significant fundraising efforts, their dedication to charitable causes has been remarkable. Let's take a look at some of the wonderful initiatives that have been taking place:
Stepping Up for Awareness
A huge well done to Charlotte and Isla for their powerful initiative to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking. Their commitment to highlighting this important issue, driven by personal connection, is truly commendable. While not a fundraising event, their efforts have undoubtedly sparked important conversations and increased understanding within our school community. Thank you, Charlotte and Isla, for using your voices to make a difference!
Easter Cheer for Willowbrook Hospice raising £118
Four of our fantastic students, Grace, Ava, Hannah, and Poppy, have shown incredible teamwork and entrepreneurial spirit in their fundraising efforts for Willowbrook Hospice. After thoughtfully selecting a charity close to their hearts, they embarked on a mission to create a spectacular Easter hamper. Their dedication to selling raffle tickets every day has been truly inspiring, we eagerly anticipated the grand draw during our Big Lent Walk! Their hard work will undoubtedly bring comfort and support to those cared for by Willowbrook Hospice.
Supporting Our Community with Everton in the Community raising £132.65
A special mention goes to Evie, supported by her fellow members of the SVP, for her passionate fundraising efforts for Everton in the Community. Recognising the significant role this organisation plays in the lives of many of our students, Evie bravely took on a sleepout at Goodison Park (an experience that will be her first and last at this ground!). Her dedication, along with the support of her team who sold delicious blue treats and half-time hotdogs, resulted in an impressive £132.65 raised. This money will directly support the valuable work Everton in the Community does within our wider locality. Well done, Evie and team!
Lent and Beyond: Our Ongoing Support for CAFOD raising £753.50
Our school community has also been actively engaged in supporting CAFOD as we prepare for our annual Big Lent Walk. We have been so grateful for the generous contributions received, our collective efforts will make a real difference to the lives of those facing poverty and injustice around the world.
A Heartfelt Thank You
We are immensely proud of all our students who have taken the initiative to support these important causes. Their willingness to go above and beyond, whether through raising awareness or fundraising, truly embodies the values of De La Salle! Thank you to every student who has contributed their time, effort, and generosity. Your actions demonstrate the power of our school community to make a real and positive impact on the lives of others, both near and far.
