St Benild connect with Lasallian school in Belgium

A chance encounter between Ms Claudia Vella, Deputy Head of St. Benild School, and Mr Pietro BelFiore, Head of School at Institute Saint-Ferdinand, during October 2022 ASSEDIL Conference in Rome, has grown into a meaningful exchange between two Lasallian primary schools—St. Benild School in Malta and Institute Saint-Ferdinand in Belgium South.

In the spirit of this new connection, each class at St. Benild School created a Christmas greeting card for one of the six youngest classes at our Belgian counterpart. A few weeks later, this heartfelt gesture was brought to life through a virtual assembly, where students from both schools had the chance to thank one another and celebrate their shared Lasallian identity.

These meaningful interactions help our students experience the global nature of the Lasallian community from a young age. They also open doors for educators to collaborate on enriching cross-border initiatives.

Small Schools with a Big Heart

Moreover, in a previous Lenten season, our pupils demonstrated the true spirit of compassion and generosity. Through our Lenten Good Deeds activity, the students in both schools raised an admirable sum which was donated to support the victims of the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.

We are extremely proud of our boys and families for their heartfelt efforts. Their contributions helped turn small acts of kindness into meaningful aid for those in need.

We continue to believe that even the smallest school can make a big difference.
