St Benildus supports local community at Christmas

As the Advent season begins, the Religion Department at St Benildus College Dublin, has launched a special initiative to support families in the wider community. This year, they have set up a Giving Tree in the school’s front foyer, creating an opportunity for staff, students and families to contribute on the run-up to Christmas.

The Giving Tree is designed to ease some of the pressure that local families may face at this time of year. Tags on the tree outline requested items, and members of the school community were invited to take a tag and provide the listed gift. Donations of non-perishable foods, warm clothing and toiletries are being collected.

The Religion Department hopes that this project will help bring comfort and support to families experiencing hardship. Their efforts highlight the school community’s ongoing commitment to compassion and generosity during the festive season.

Advent Service 2025

Our school community are coming together on Friday December 12th for a beautiful Advent service organised for our first and second year students. Held in the school hall, the service marks the Advent season, a time of reflection, hope, and preparation for Christmas. Students will participate through readings, prayers, and carols, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere.

The lighting of the candles on the Advent wreath is a special moment, reminding us of the hope and anticipation for the coming of Christ. Many thanks to our students and choir who will make this a meaningful celebration. It is, as always, a beautiful way to celebrate the season of Advent in our school.

College Awareness Week

In the spirit of our Lasallian tradition of guiding young people toward their fullest potential, our school was delighted to host our annual Careers Fair on December 3rd. The event brought together a gathering of over 40 professionals, including past pupils and parents of our current students, who generously shared their time, wisdom, and personal journeys with the next generation.

We were also honoured to welcome representatives from 10 Higher Education Institutes, each offering insights into further study pathways and helping students explore the many possibilities that lie ahead.

In true Lasallian community spirit, we invited students from St. Raphaela’s Secondary School and Our Lady’s Grove Secondary School, creating an atmosphere of collaboration and shared learning. Together, students engaged in meaningful conversations about future careers, courses, and the steps needed to achieve their goals.

The day was filled with curiosity, encouragement, and support. We extend our sincere gratitude to all who participated and helped provide such an inspiring experience for our students as they consider their future career options.
