Embracing Inclusive Community at Waterford
Students and staff at De La Salle College Waterford embraced the core principle of Inclusive Community by celebrating Inclusivity Week in March with events taking place every day.
Day two was all about Autism Awareness and we were delighted to welcome a past pupil, who delivered a truly engaging and insightful talk on neurodiversity to our students.
With four autism classes here at De La Salle, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. Sean’s talk sparked important conversations, helping us all to better understand and appreciate the strengths, perspectives, and experiences of autistic individuals.
On Thursday March 27th we had an absolutely incredible Culture Day at De La Salle, celebrating the rich tapestry of traditions, music, food, and heritage that make up our school community. From vibrant performances to delicious global flavours, it was a true showcase of unity in diversity. A fantastic day had by all!
Gardening
Transition Year students have been busy helping in the gardens at the College.
Malvern visit
On April 9th the Gaelic football in De La Salle College reached new heights when we played De La Salle College Malvern (Melbourne) as part of their tour of Ireland today. They clearly brought the sunshine with them, and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all. The game was fast-paced and competitive from start to finish with our boys coming out on top. Presentations were made from both schools to mark this occasion before Malvern took their leave to continue on their tour.
A huge well done to the students of both Waterford and Malvern on their performances, and on the mutual respect shown!
