St Margaret Ward Nurture Lasallian Ethos during Mission Month

Throughout the month of March, St Margaret Ward welcomed visitors from the Sion Catholic Community for Evangelism in to our school community. They have spent time sharing the Gospel with our students through engaging Assemblies and visiting our students in their classrooms, while also holding conversations about faith. They have also begun working with smaller groups of students to help us consider our Mission as a school community.

The students responded really positively and it has been really interesting to see so many students discuss what they believe and share their thoughts articulately.

Following these activities, the students took part in various workshops looking at our 5 Lasallian Core Principles. Each workshop group has worked on different ways that we can put our values into practical action.

For example, the Faith in the Presence of God group looked at creating an exciting and interactive prayer room in school and trained our students in praying for and, with other students. The Concern for the Poor group discussed how we can put Catholic Social Teaching into practice and planning a number of service projects and fundraising activities which we hope to put into practice soon.

Our Inclusivity & Respect group looked at how we can put respect and inclusivity into practice in school by devising a Lasallian student charter. Then finally, our Quality Education group spent time thinking about what is unique about our school and our community and helping to develop a new Mission statement for our school.

We are excited to see how the projects continue to grow and bless our Lasallian Community!

Y9 and 10 Mass

This term we have celebrate Mass with Y9 in January and Y10 in March. These have been wonderful celebrations with our students, and for many of them will have been the first time they have celebrate Mass in High school as we have returned to normal following the Covid pandemic.

The students conducted themselves admirably and we had the fantastic support of our local priest Fr Julian and of our music department and students who lead us fantastically.
