Team La Salle inspiring all at St Margaret Ward

At St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy, a newly formed social action group — Team La Salle — has been putting faith into practice by living out the Lasallian values of Concern for the Poor and Social Justice. Inspired by the example of St John Baptiste De La Salle and the teachings of Jesus, the group have spent this half term working hard to make a difference in the local community.

Their first major project has been the creation of a school-based foodbank, designed to support local families who may be struggling with the rising cost of living. Students from all year groups have been encouraged to donate tins, dried foods, and essential toiletries. Members of Team La Salle have spent time colleting, sorting, organising, and packing these items ready for distribution each week.

Alongside this, the group has also begun developing a second-hand uniform shop, aiming to reduce waste and help families access affordable, good-quality school clothing. By reusing and recycling uniforms, the team hopes to make school life more sustainable and inclusive for everyone.

What makes Team La Salle so special is not just what they do, but why they do it. Their work is rooted in the belief that every small act of kindness can have a big impact.

The group plans to continue expanding its projects throughout the year, with future ideas including charity fundraising events.

Team La Salle is a shining example of how young people at St Margaret Ward are turning faith into action — living out the Gospel call to love one another through compassion, service, and hope.
